DOTA 2

Valve's Dota 2

Yup! You've read that title and seen that image crystal clear! DOTA 2. Defense of the Ancients. If you have zero idea of what DOTA is then I don't know if you're one of the ancients or this thing called technology just hasn't hit your side of the planet yet. Fine. I shall explain briefly. DOTA is a Warcraft-based somewhat real-time strategy (RTS) slash role-playing game (RPG) which hosts 10 players max on a 5-on-5 basis with the goal of conquering their enemies' territory. This game has been around since 2000 something and the gaming frenzy grew so big that until now it's nowhere near the brink of vanishing. My teammates are the very example to show this game is very alive during this time.

Dota 2 Bloodseeker

Anyhow, Valve, a massive game-development company that produced Counter-Strike, Half-Life, Left 4 Dead and some more finally ended the rumors by announcing that they are releasing DOTA 2 next year, 2011 for the PC and Mac. As for the original DOTA All-Stars heroes, items, maps, etc. Everything will be brought over to sequel with of course improvements or maybe disappointments for some. But the mere idea of a new game makes it all the more an improvement.

Dota 2 Drow Ranger

Valve must be in full force working on this one. They don't want to disappointment the massive community of DOTA players worldwide, do they? And by the way, Icefrog, that famous genius-minded game developer who handles DOTA since 2005 is the captain once again of this monster ship. Icefrog, whose real name is still anonymous, was hired by Valve last year, 2009. The company has nothing but praises on the ingenuity of the guy so we can expect an amazing output from them.

Dota 2 Lina

Aren't the artwork samples looking so darn good? The images are some of the famous heroes of DOTA and they have been modified one way or the other but keeping the main features all the same. I mean look at those! Hands down to their art team over there. But what about the features Valve will put into the sequel and all the changes that will happen? Well, they do announce some of it but most of it are still on development but I do remember a "Coaching System" and in-game voice chat but I'm too lazy and kind of sleepy at this point to talk about everything else so please refer to the link by GameInformer. (Valve's New Game Announced, Detailed: Dota 2)

Dota 2 Morphling

I don't have any idea if this will change everything, anything but not maybe nothing, again. I don't know what will happen to Heroes of Newerth (HoN) and League of Legends (LoL), DOTA-based games that got some share of the RTS market. But I am actually excited on how this game will turn out after all. Valve has created promising games after all and add Mr. Icefrog to the equation. What do you think?

Other Stuff:
  • I have watched countless DOTA games because of my teammates and I really like the game especially when I watch professional aka addicts play.
  • But I have actually only played around 5 times in a span of 2-3 years. Wow.
  • I don't really play DOTA because when I was still in highschool (this was the time the game became effhing popular), I resisted and tried everything not to get addicted to any computer shop games again during this point in my life. Hence, I miss the DOTA wave when everyone was practicing and learning the basics.
  • When I wanted to play DOTA after all, I was too late to catch up on everyone else and I eventually decided not to play anymore. In short, I was lazy to catch up and I didn't want to spend my time and money on it. Sad.
  • I got addicted to HoN when it came out because it's online (I can play at home and it's free then. Haha.) and more importantly, I'm a graphics kind of person and DOTA can eat the dust of HoN on this aspect. Unfortunately, I stopped because I have to buy an account. Boo.
  • I shall practice for DOTA 2!

Mohock Smart Umbrella

Mohock Smart Umbrella

Do you think it's time for a follow-up, a quick one, to my last post about posting Yanko Designs? Well, I think it is! So, here it is! This one's called the Mohock Smart Umbrella. It's Korean!

Designed by Ju Hyun Lee

I know you own an umbrella. Of course you do. And you hate it when you have to leave it somewhere after going through pouring rain just so it would dry and not drip it's water life on the floor. And eventually, sadly and annoyingly, you'll forget that you have an umbrella drying up in God knows where. This is assuming that it stops raining. Hence, you will not pay attention to the umbrella once again. Ladies and gentlemen, fear no more! The non-drip slash non-losing umbrella!

Mohock Smart Umbrella Comes in Fantastic Colors!

Yanko Design - Modern Industrial Design News

Bend Hand

Have you ever heard of this site? Yanko Design - Modern Industrial Design News? No? We'll, this is just one of the many websites that I look forward to visit once in a while. It showcases everyday products like chairs, tables, bikes and just about anything you could think of including a tree planting robot of course! Anyway, I wouldn't mind sharing to everyone the concepts that astonishes me. And oh. Some are not mere concepts because they apparently have a store too. Here, Store Front - Yanko Design. Sadly, they don't ship in the Philippines like most online stores. Ugh. I hate it.

Designed by Giha Woo

Before I forget, I saw this just now. The image above is called "Bend Hand" and it is literally a world clock! Just see for yourselves! I might post products on Yanko from now on so I hope they read this and the rest will be history. Haha. You can also see the products I post as potential gifts to me! Right? Right? OK. Cool!

Tree Planting Robot

Here's an image of the tree planting robot by the way. It's by Anna-Karin Bergkvist.

That's My Kind Of Food Chain!

Cyanide and Happiness

Cyanide and Happiness - Spearmint

One of the greatest and simplest comics I have ever seen, Cyanide and Happiness by Explosm.net. If you've never heard of it then do check it out for yourselves at their site. They have tons and tons of comics and they do post updates everyday for your daily dose of humor. I don't know about you but I enjoy these kinds of comic strips! I'm amazed by how damn creative and witty the comics are.
Cyanide & Happiness - Ice Cream and Sadness

I have known Cyanide and Happiness since I was in 2nd year college back when my blockmate, Robee, would show loads of it, while not listening in class lectures. Good times!

Socially Awkward

I like surfing the net. Looking for the most interesting stuff that interests me of course. And I can't help but share what I just saw to the closest person (usually to my girlfriend whom I talk to each and every time I can, my sister who continuously studies in our room and my officemate beside me) or to everyone else by posting and sharing what amazes me on either or all of the sites I keep. This blog is relatively new by the way.

Back to the original post, I saw this Tumblr post by Rose Anne Nguyen and the moment I saw it, I knew I had to post it. So, here it goes.

SOCIALLY AWKWARD.
  • you check your phone, because you have nothing to contribute to the conversation.
  • wait for the right time to say something, you get interrupted. twice
  • someone you vaguely know is walking in front of you. you maintain distance.
  • hold the door for some. they’re slightly too far away.
  • someone comes online, you say “hey”, they go offline.
  • you go in for the high-five. other person isn’t looking.
  • accidentally look someone in the eye. pretend to look past them.
  • you say something stupid. you play it down, but everyone sees your face going red.
  • you say “hi” to someone. it comes out as a whisper.
  • your friends formed a circle while you were gone. you can’t fit and end up standing slightly askew.
  • waiting by yourself for friends. pretend you’re texting.
  • you tell a hilarious joke. nobody laughs.
  • you’re in class and you want to cough. some other person just coughed, now you have to wait.
  • walk into the restrooms and the stalls are full; pretend you only came here to wash your hands then leave.
  • the person in front is walking slightly slower than you are. you walk at an uncomfortable speed to get past them.
  • awkward silence.
/insert awkward turtle gif.

Other Stuff:
  • Here's the other things I do whenever I see something cool off the net:
  • Say things like "I would never thought of that in a my whole lifetime!".
  • Curse at how effhing coool it is!
  • Spend at least 15mins. more surfing for things related to the something cool.
  • I know I have this amazed face where genuine amazement can be seen in my eyes.
  • My brain works instantly how I would be able to share it to others.
  • I say cool one more time.

A Boy-Girl Conversation

Samurai X: Kenshin and Kaoru

Boy: If you had no finger, would you wear a ring?
Girl: No.
Boy: If you had no ear, would you wear an earring?
Girl: Definitely not!
Boy: Then why are you wearing bra?
Girl: FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUU

The Mouse Will Come Out And Play

That is one awesome mouse. No, seriously. This kind of gadget brings out the inner geek inside me every time. Razer never fails to come up with cool gadgets as simple as a mouse and a keyboard. It makes me want to move the mouse around over and over again. And oh. There's also a Tron keyboard. Check the link below for the official site of Razer. By the way, Tron, the inspiration of the mouse and keyboard, is Disney's new movie that's coming out this December. I hope it doesn't do bad. Effects and a little bit of story and acting will suffice.

Soft Kitty

Soft Kitty

Sometimes a simple cute picture like this one can make anyone's day already. It makes you smile. It makes you wanna hug or even squish the kitty. It makes you feel good; those little things of everyday.

Yellow Pedicab

Yellow Pedicab in Action

Seriously, Filipinos are this creative when it comes to brand spoofs. And don't you like this better than Yellow Cab's Vespas? C'mon! It's eco-friendly!

Now That's A Slide!

SLIDE

Is this slide for real? Does anyone know if it's existing? And if it is, where in the world?! Because it's look hellah fun!!! I just don't know if people end their lives here. Well, I hope not. That ain't cool anymore.
